Golf Barrière Saint-Julien
Golf de Saint-Julien is the second of the two Groupe Lucien Barrière courses close to the town of Deauville. It’s set in lush green Norman countryside and close to the small town of Pont-l’Evêque, approximately 15 minutes’ drive from Deauville.

Unlike its sister course the Golf Barrière de Deauville, Saint-Julien is a much hillier set in the ‘Vallèe de la Tourque’, and the level changes play a significant role in the playability of the course. Fortunately though, the fairways are on average a little larger and more forgiving meaning the odd stray shot doesn’t penalise you too much.
The front nine is definitely the easier and there are plenty of birdie opportunities for the more experienced players. Fairways snake through the elevated plateau of apple trees and all seems very serene and enjoyable.
It is however on the back 9 holes where the challenge really begins, specifically holes 12, 13, 14 and the 18th, which plays downhill with a carry over water to attack a well-protected green.

There is a 9-hole practise course which is far better than a standard par-3 course, not overly difficult due to the lack of rough, making it perfect for beginners.
The picturesque clubhouse is a renovated stable with a number of buildings forming a courtyard where the car-park is located. Inside the clubhouse is a fantastic restaurant with rows of floor to ceiling windows looking out to the course. Be assured, like many clubhouses in France, their focus on the food can sometimes surpass the quality of the golf!
