Introduction

In this blog post we’re going to take a look at some of the best golf resorts in Nevada.

This vast state towards the U.S. west coast is primarily known for one thing. And that thing is the casino city of Las Vegas. Unsurprisingly, it is in Las Vegas that a number of these golf resorts are located.

Traveling out of the city, Mesquite is another location popular with golfers. It was really put on the golfing map when one of its courses, the spectacular Wolf Creek Golf Club, featured on the EA Sports Tiger Woods video game.

Much further to the north is the majestic Lake Tahoe, with ‘The Biggest Little City in the World’ Reno, close by.

Let’s jump into the best Nevada golf resorts.

The Westin Lake Las Vegas Resort & Spa by Marriott

SouthShore Golf Club, Henderson, Las Vegas, Nevada - Permission Granted

We kick off this list of the best golf resorts in Nevada with the sensational Westin Lake Las Vegas Resort & Spa by Marriott.

Positioned on the shore of Lake Las Vegas, the location offers the best of both worlds. It’s just over a half hour’s drive to the Las Vegas Strip, meaning you can easily pop in for whatever evening’s entertainment pleases you.

Yet you’re far enough out of the city, to be able to properly switch off and enjoy the peace and quiet.

Like any Westin Marriott resort, expect top class luxury surroundings and plenty of amenities. This includes a spa, fitness center, outdoor pool, even beach access!

The signature restaurant is the superb Japanese inspired Marssa Steak & Sushi. Considered one of the finest restaurants in the region, you’ll be blown away by the wagyu steaks and fresh sushi.

For those looking to play golf, you have access to the private SouthShore Country Club. An exclusive Jack Nicklaus Signature course, this is a magnificent layout which has spectacular views over Lake Las Vegas.

Red Hawk Golf & Resort

Twenty minutes drive out of downtown Reno, is the fantastic Troon managed Red Hawk Golf & Resort. There are some sensational golf courses around the city of Reno, and without doubt Red Hawk has two of the top ones.

Unlike the big traditional golf resort set up, Red Hawk features a number of luxurious villas. To be precise, there are four of them, which ensures guests get to enjoy a premium level of service and pampering.

It’s worth noting that two of the villas, the Parlor Suite and Parlor Loft Suite, feature a full kitchen setup, allowing for self-catering options. They are also far more sociable with a central socializing room.

Whilst the other two, the Red Hawk Suite and Talon Suite, feature a wet bar and jacuzzi tub. But staying in these requires you to dine in David’s Grill. Which is no bad thing!

It’s a very popular restaurant with both golfers and locals. It serves a wide menu of well-known classics and comfort food, with enough choice to cater for most tastes and multiple visits.

Alongside the large outdoor pool, are the two fantastic championship golf courses. Guests have the option of playing the Robert Trent Jones II designed Lakes Course. Or they can choose to play the three time U.S. Open winner Hale Irwin’s Hills Course.

Wynn Las Vegas

Question. What is the closest golf resort to the Las Vegas Strip? You guessed it, the Wynn Las Vegas.

This is arguably the best option for groups looking to seamlessly merge nightlife and golf on their golf vacation.

The Wynn Las Vegas is without doubt, one of the most sought after hotels in Las Vegas. It epitomizes luxury and for decades it has been one of the most famous hotels on the Strip.

All the rooms were recently completely renovated carefully balancing elevated design with the utmost comfort.

Where the resort stands out from the crowd, is in the choice of dining options. Lakeside offers first-class seafood. Mizumi modern Japanese cuisine. Modern twists on Italian classics at Sinatra. Whilst SW Steakhouse serves up the finest in prime beef steaks!

And to top things off, Wynn Golf Club is a Las Vegas classic that guests get exclusive access to. Designed by the legendary Tom Fazio, this is one of his finest designs on the West Coast.

CasaBlanca Resort

As you enter the city of Mesquite from the south on the Las Vegas Freeway, you’ll notice on your immediate right, a golf course appear from the desert landscape. This is the Cal Olsen-designed CasaBlanca Golf Club, with its large lakes and wetland areas.

One of two golf courses you can play when staying at the CasaBlanca Resort, the other being the fantastic Palms Golf Club.

This friendly and affordable resort is very much targeted to golfing groups and couples. There are three main reasons for this.

Firstly, the resort’s amenities, with a world-class spa. It also features a large outdoor pool space with a popular poolside bar serving refreshing drinks.

Secondly, the huge gaming and casino area, which features some 900 slot machines and numerous gaming tables.

And thirdly, the resort’s top-notch dining. You’ve got the expected Poolside menu, the informal Casa Cafe and Chinese. But the place to be is Katherine’s, which serves iconic Italian dishes, Seafood and Steaks.

The Lodge at Edgewood Tahoe

Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course, Lake Tahoe, Californi - Permission Given

Lake Tahoe, North America’s largest alpine lake and one of the most popular tourist spots on the West Coast. So imagine a stunning golf resort, literally on the shore of the lake.

And that’s what you have with the prestigious Edgewood Tahoe Resort. Right on the Nevada / California state line, this is a resort which oozes luxury and elegance.

Up until recently, the only accommodation option was staying in one of the fantastic suites in the Lodge. Not that this was a bad thing. The Lodge has been littered with awards from all the finest publications and websites. What it lacks in quantity of suites, it more than makes up for in quality.

Yet in 2022, the first of its luxury villas opened. Catering for groups, these go from two to five bedrooms. Perfect for larger groups or families looking for a bit more comfort and social spaces, whilst upkeeping the finest in luxury surroundings.

The resort’s dining options are second-to-none with the Edgewood Restaurant and The Bistro Edgewood. I mean, how does this not tempt you?  Pinecone Smoked Elk Loins. Roasted Turbot. Espresso Dusted Veal Chops. ‘Cowboy Cut’ Tomahawk Steak. I’m genuinely salivating writing this.

And the golf maintains the same high standards you’ve come to expect.

It has hosted numerous high-profile tournaments and is rated as one of Golf Digest’s best public golf courses. And it has been designed and maintained by golfing royalty, George and Tom Fazio respectively.

JW Marriott Las Vegas Resort & Spa

TPC Las Vegas, Nevada

OK, I’ll front up, this isn’t strictly a pure golf resort. There is no golf course onsite owned by the hotel.

But there is a very good reason why it’s included. And that’s because the JW Marriott Las Vegas Resort & Spa is surrounded by golf courses. Packages and tee times can be organized on nearly all of them.

That is why I think if you’re staying in Las Vegas, this hotel is actually one of the best ‘golf resort’ options to consider. You’re not necessarily tied to playing just one course over and over again. But instead you have the choice of a number of golf courses on your doorstep.

And there is a really good choice of golf courses within just a few minutes drive from the hotel. The exclusive TPC Summerlin, quality TPC Las Vegas and modern playable Angel Park Golf Club are just some of them.

Its location also couldn’t be more convenient. Fifteen minutes drive from the Strip and also from the airport. But far enough away from the action to make this a peaceful retreat.

Clearly you know what to expect from a JW Marriott resort. The ultimate in comfort and luxury with nothing but the finest amenities and dining options.

This Mediterranean-styled hotel has a world-class spa with a whole range of treatments to choose from. The large outdoor pool area with its waterfall is also the perfect place to unwind post golf.

When it comes to food, you have various choices. The Jade Asian Kitchen offers amongst others a Sushi bar and Japanese Teppanyaki. The Spiedini Fiamma Italian Bistro serves up Italian classics, whilst you also have the Market Place Buffet and Earl Grey Cafe.

But for me the Hawthorn Grill, set in the Spa Tower, is the place to go. Nice decor serving up traditional American fare…you just can’t go wrong.

Primm Valley Casino Resorts

Primm Valley Golf Club. Las Vegas, Nevada

South of Las Vegas towards the Mojave Desert, is the ever-popular Primm Valley Casino Resorts. On the map it looks like a long way from Vegas. But from the international airport, it is just a half hour’s drive.

The resort is effectively three-in-one, with Primm Valley Casino Resorts, Whiskey Pete’s, and Buffalo Bill’s Resort & Casino. But we’re going to focus primarily on Primm Valley Casino Resorts.

One thing to clear up right away is this resort is pure hedonism. I mean, where do we even start?!

It’s a modern resort, where gambling and casinos are clearly a big part of what’s on offer. Alongside the other resorts, they collectively feature 1,250 slot and video poker machines. There is also a vast selection of games tables.

If you want a little retail therapy, the Primm Mall is located next door, which has outlet stores for most major brands.

Alongside the spa is a large outdoor pool area that will allow you to freshen up after a late night or long day on the golf course.

Across the three resorts, there are plenty of food options. Too many to even begin listing here.

Some of the highlights though include Cuca’s Mexican Food at both Buffalo Bill’s and Whiskey Pete’s. For Italian style steaks, try out the BB Chophouse at Buffalo Bill’s. Whilst the Panda Express, also at Buffalo Bill’s, serves up gourmet Chinese food. But genuinely, there is a little bit of everything to be found.

And as for the golf, there are two championship courses to choose from, believe it or not, in the state of California! But they are literally a ten minute drive down the road.

Despite being surrounded by the barren and desolate desert, you enter an oasis of green and verdant surroundings. Lakes, wildlife and dense vegetation create a surreal but thoroughly enjoyable backdrop to your round.

Both courses are top class and great fun. Whilst you also have the Bar & Grill onsite, which serves comfort classics and great beer.

Eureka Casino Resort

Eureka Casino Resort, Mesquite, Nevada, Outdoor heated pool - resized

Yet another option in the heart of Mesquite, is Eureka Casino Resort. This employee owned casino resort is one of the finest places to reside in the city.

Located on a landscaped 60-acre plot, you couldn’t find a more central position from which to go and enjoy the local golf courses. Within a five minute drive, you could be at Wolf Creek Golf Club, Oasis Golf Club, Falcon Ridge and Palms Golf Course.

Without spelling out the obvious, the resort is known for its top class casino. There are up to 1,000 slot and video poker machines to be enjoyed until the early hours.

But there is a lot more to appreciate here than just the casino. For example the luxury bedrooms which have a contemporary decor. These are perfect for golf vacations offering plenty of room to store clubs. They are also considered some of the finest rooms in Mesquite.

The amenities range from a heated outdoor pool surrounded by luxury private cabanas, as well as onsite shopping.

When it comes to dining, you’ll be well looked after. Mason Street Courtyard offers a bit of everything catering to all tastes. Whereas Gregory’s Mesquite Grill is perfect for couples and rated the #1 restaurant in Mesquite by Tripadvisor.

Looking to watch the latest game with a choice of cold beers. Look no further than The Sportsbook, one of Mesquite’s newest sports bars.

This is a great all-in-one option, the perfect choice for a Mesquite golf vacation.
